Your Session Experience
When you book a family session with me, you’re not just signing up for photos—you’re stepping into an experience designed to feel calm, playful, and completely centered around your family as you are right now.
With over a decade of experience photographing families across the Chicagoland area, I’ve worked with every stage of childhood—from brand new babies in those first tender days of life, to busy toddlers, to teens who may or may not want to be there (I see you 😉). And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: there is no “perfect” behavior required for beautiful photos.
A Calm Start (Yes, Even for the Shy Ones)
I always begin sessions gently, especially for little ones who need a bit of time to warm up. New faces, new places, and a camera can feel like a lot! That’s why I start with simple, one-on-one moments—no pressure, no expectations. Just connection.
This helps your child feel comfortable with me before we move into the more playful, energetic part of the session. Because once we get there… the silliness absolutely begins.
I Will 100% Make a Fool of Myself
Let’s be honest: getting genuine smiles from kids sometimes requires a little creativity. I come fully prepared with a whole toolkit of tricks—goofy noises, ridiculous jokes, and yes, I will absolutely make fun of myself if it gets a real laugh.
Whether we’re in the studio or out on location, my goal is to create a space where your kids feel free to be themselves. No stiff posing. No forced smiles.
Why I Sometimes Ask Parents to Step Back
Parents, you are amazing at getting your kids to smile—I know that. But sometimes, I may ask you to give me a few minutes to connect with your child directly.
Why? Because when your child locks eyes with me, they’re looking straight into the camera—not up, not off to the side, not distracted. That connection makes all the difference in your final images.
Trust me—I’ll call you right back in when it’s time.
No “Say Cheese” Here
You won’t hear me asking your kids to “smile” or “say cheese.” Instead, I focus on creating moments that naturally bring out joy, curiosity, and even those quiet, thoughtful expressions you didn’t know you’d love so much.
The goal is for your session to feel more like a playdate than a performance.
How to Prepare (Without the Stress)
I know photo day can feel like a big deal—but it doesn’t have to be stressful.
One of my biggest tips? Skip the bribes. Instead, tell your kids we’re heading out for a fun adventure—maybe a playdate in the forest or a relaxed outing together. When expectations are low and the vibe is light, kids show up more like themselves.
For older kids and teens, I keep things efficient and respectful of their time. They tend to warm up quickly once they realize cooperation means a shorter session (and yes, we usually get some genuinely great moments along the way).
Every Age, Every Stage
Whether I’m playing peek-a-boo with a newborn, following the lead of a strong-willed toddler, or cracking jokes to win over a teenager, I meet your family exactly where you are.
And here’s something I want every parent to remember:
Even if your session feels a little chaotic… even if you leave wondering how anything turned out… trust the process.
Because behind the scenes, something beautiful is always unfolding.
The Magic Is Real
My goal is to create images that feel like your family—full of personality, connection, and love. The kind of portraits that only grow more meaningful with time.
So come as you are. Let your kids be themselves. And let me handle the rest.
I promise—magic has unfolded.
